Arctic Ace Esports Acquires Outfit 49

Moncton, New Brunswick-based Arctic Ace Esports has officially entered Counter-Strike, acquiring the players and staff of Toronto-based Outfit 49 as the organization makes its debut in the scene.

The acquisition sees Outfit 49 cease operations, with nearly the entire organization transitioning to Arctic Ace. The only player not making the move is American rifler Man327, as Arctic Ace shifts its focus toward fielding a fully Canadian roster.

A New Beginning

In a farewell message announcing the transition, Outfit 49 co-owner James “Rakkno” Power reflected on the organization’s journey over the past year, thanking everyone who supported the organization and looking ahead to its future under Arctic Ace.

"Last year, I had an idea to start an esports team. It has simply been the most fulfilling thing I have ever decided to do. I've met countless amazing people and felt like I've lived multiple lifetimes of experiences in this scene in such little time. I never thought I could care so deeply or put so much of myself into something."

Rakkno also expressed his excitement for the organization’s next chapter.

"We have been acquired by a new organization looking to make their first mark in the Counter Strike scene. For our players and staff making the journey forward, the future looks brighter than ever, not just for us, but for Canadian CS and the region as a whole."

The acquisition marks the end of Outfit 49 but also the beginning of Arctic Ace’s investment in Canadian Counter-Strike.

Arctic Ace’s inaugural Counter-Strike lineup consists of:

  • Canada Jon “Cloudy” Kalacis
  • Canada Eric  “Depend” Dee
  • Canada Andrew “Shiraz” McGrath
  • Canada Lukasz “Lukasz” Brodowicz

The organization has confirmed it will complete the roster with a Canadian player following a trial period during the summer break, transitioning to an all-Canadian lineup.
